TV Roundup: Week of 3/18 to 3/24

This round up is a quick look back at this past week in TV. We pull no punches and Matthew, Mark and Omarey will give you their funny, angry, sometimes disappointed but always succinct thoughts on the shows they watch. SPOILER ALERT- Please only read things about shows you have already watched to ensure you don’t ruin your experience. Here’s a look at our thoughts about the week of 3/18 – 3/24

 The Walking Dead

Matthew: Well, it was better than the CDC. It seems like Rick’s character is going in the right direction, but there was just too much sloppy writing for me to say this was any more than a merely okay finale.
…And that is how you do a finale. All of the things that they showed in the finale were things comic fans have been waiting for and were really exciting to see. Can’t wait for the fall.

Once Upon A Time

-“I don’t think she hates Snow White will hold up in a court, Henry”-Emma. Mean, crazed Snow White was strangely hilarious. The dwarf intervention was kinda cute, so was the scene where Snow Remembered Charming.

House of Lies

This show has been better lately, but Jeannie sleeping with the boss guy bothers the crap out of me. It kind of disturbs me.
“She was the sexiest girl up on that stage.”-Phoebe, Jeannie’s mom. “Sexy seems like the wrong word.”-Clyde. Miss Junior Spokane 2002. Monica is truly disturbed.

How I Met Your Mother

Matthew: I would like to have a monk guy. All the Quinn jokes at the intervention were funny. I just feel like I am going through the motions watching this show at this point though.
Very good episode. It felt like a classic HIMYM episode for the first time in a long time. It was cool to see Barney having fun again. I also liked Marshall’s throat clearing Quinn jokes.

This show is just meh for me. So glad its almost done.

The River

Kind of a disappointing finale. I wasn’t expecting them to get away and the very end was fine, but I was hoping they’d answer some of the lingering questions in this episode. Particularly what Lena’s marking meant and maybe explaining more about Kurt.

I was expecting a better finale given the ones they’ve had in the past, but this was a good episode. I am fine with the way all three storylines wrapped up, but it didn’t have any of the “wow” moments I was expecting.
I like the overall tone of the episode and the conversation between Tang and Cooper. Sad that this is it until next season…

Happy Endings

I loved the tag set to some old Ice Cube and Jane’s response to realizing she had eaten nachos earlier.
The whole episode was great but the entirety of the cold open was pure magic.

30 Rock

Two good episodes. I loved Tracy’s line about being in on a show within a show and his real name. And Billy Baldwin did a great Jack Donaghy.
Two awesome episodes. “We’re in a show within a show. My name is Tracy Morgan!” The first episode was my favorite episode of  the season. (Editor’s Pick Favorite Episode of the Week: Omarey)

This one didn’t do a lot for me, but everyone fawning over Jeff was pretty funny and evil Abed making an appearance could lead to something cool. Who knows though.
Omarey: “I was so sad to hear of your passing.” “Me too.”-Troy “Skullcracker 2000” Seacrest Hulk. Hahaha.

Omarey: It was neat to see a 24 alum on this show. The way things come together at the end of the show is just special.

Good episode. The scene where Britten talks to both Kates was well-done. Not sure how his dad and his coach didn’t realize sooner that Rex was mad because it was his mom’s racket. It was really obvious.
The family stuff has emerged as the better part of this show. The back and forth with the psychiatrists this week was good as well.

All the Observer stuff was cool, but the ending with Peter and Olivia was the best part. Just put a smile on my face. I loved it. (Editor’s Pick Favorite Episode of the Week: Matthew)
So glad to have Fringe back. The callbacks and the end of the episode were amazing. The killer this week was the creepiest one in the history of the show.
