This round up is a quick look back at this past week in TV. We pull no punches and Matthew and Omarey will give you their funny, angry, sometimes disappointed but always succinct thoughts on the shows they watch. SPOILER ALERT- Please only read things about shows you have already watched to ensure you don’t ruin your experience. Here’s a look at our thoughts about the week of 1/6 – 1/12
Once Upon A Time
Matthew: I was really hoping they would figure out it wasn’t Regina at some point this episode. Actually felt kind of bad for her here.
Omarey: This was a great episode that I kinda hated because they were basically piling on Regina. Poor Poor Regina. I hope this doesn’t harden her more.
Matthew: The barplot is just terrible. And the Initiative stuff still isn’t really working yet. Emily breaking out the red marker for kind of a classic takedown was great though. I like how it was one she adapted to as it presented itself as opposed to her typically meticulously pre-planned Revenge schemes.
Omarey: Even though it was a part of Emily’s plan I like what she did for the judge’s wife. Declan is such a doofus sometimes…well all the time. I can’t even save you Dec.
Don’t Trust The B**** In Apt. 23
Omarey: EP 1-June’s morning routine was hilarious. Fox Paris was great. It was cool to see everything with June and her nemesis including the stabbing. EP 2- Chloe being a sick offender is so messed up. June’s ghost of future is hilarious.
The Mindy Project
Omarey: “Massachusetts is the WORST.” Brendon the doctor is great. Mindy’s brother, Rishi is great. Reese peesey is a great stage name.
Ben and Kate
Matthew: It feels like I’m always picking BJ moments (that sounded terrible) when talking about this show each week, but I think there is a reason for that. The best part this week was definitely her fake newscaster bits. I also enjoyed Tommy’s Paolo which was kind of absurd.
Omarey: “It’s like a sleepover in your mouth.” “Who’s putting stuff down their pants for them?” I love Jane Seymour, I mean a lot. She is my dream cougar.
Matthew: Lots of good moments sprinkled across two episodes this week. There was Dave asking when we all turned on Mayer or Alex’s love of Smashmouth. The opening that had them picking on Brad and then him trying to show his manliness later. Or just the phrase, “Harsh barley bro.”
Omarey: EP 1- The com cold open…yes “OOOHHH DETROIT” Dave’s song! “That’s an odd way to phrase that.” Heat 2: It’s getting hot up in here. The Tyler coverup. EP2-“Let me write down the dish you have to try”,“RIBS” “I haven’t been into music since Smash Mouth left the game.” Max trying to say he wasn’t gay anymore was HILARIOUS. Brad and Dave’s construction project was pure gold.
Matthew: Victor is really out of hand, but I’m not really a big fan of Julia at the moment either. When in doubt, just go with Joel. He’s by far the best in that household. Zeke and Camille talking with Max about ejaculation was hilarious! Oh and Drew had a storyline this week too. There was that.
Omarey: Dear Drew, I don’t know how many ways I can say it. You’re the worst.
Matthew: I love how they subverted expectations by having Luke be the one to have people over while the parents were away on New Year’s Eve. And seeing Haley act like Claire was fantastic. What really put this storyline over the top though? Lily constantly getting into something while they were worried about Luke. Also neat was Haley doing the voiceover at the end. That was a first I think.
Matthew: You know I love the idea of a hip hop dance off in a comedy like this, but it kind of fell flat here. Especially when George and Dallas got involved. A lot of good stuff in the Shay storyline though and I am glad Ryan is back home.
Omarey: They just eloped? WHAT! Wyclef Jean is the worst. Good for Deacon and the Rebel Kings. Rayna is great. Juliette is so hot!!!! There goes Avery making bad decisions all the while dealing with the consequences of those actions…I knew Juliette wasn’t going to get married to fake Tebow but it was still kinda dramatic.
Omarey: Great episode this week. Huck is the man. How he was able to hold out until that moment I don’t know. Mellie’s gambit was dangerous but it needed to be done, thanks to Sally’s craziness. “By the time I reach for my gun I will have 4 bullets in me, right?” “Five, one for the dog”
Matthew: How great was Dr. Spaceman’s exit from this show? After years of giving us pure gold, it was great to see one more great sequence from him. And how can you go wrong with Devon Banks and Kaylee Hooper in one episode. You can’t. Jack takes down two of his best rivals with one fantastic scheme.
Omarey: Steve Buscemi was hilarious as always, Octavia Spencer as SHE-TRACY was hilarious and Tracy trying to be like Liz was hilarious too. Jack vs Kaylee Hooper with special guest Devon Banks was an amazing final battle and with a great strategy from Jack!
Person of Interest
Omarey: Just an amazing episode. The stuff with Carter and Donnelly at the Prison, Carter and Reese and Finch and Carter were all amazing. Taraji P Henson was just SO great this week. The flashbacks with Kara were great as was the return of Elias. Fusco’s storyline was hilarious. The confrontation at the end was great, sorry Donnelly died but glad Carter and Reese needed to be free and safe. So excited to see where this all leads.(Episode of the Week)
Matthew: So much background on the September, how he became Donald, his relationship with the child Observer and just the Observers in general. And it all worked so well for me. I’m so excited to see the finale and yet sad that there is only one week left to go. Hope they nail the ending. (Episode of the Week)
Omarey: Great antepenultimate episode. The scene where Walter told Peter he had his memories back and he loved him…Beautiful. Walter was also hilarious this week. September/Donald’s revelations were great. The whole story behind the Observers made since, no female observers. Michael Cerveris put in an amazing performance. The reset seems the way we are heading and I am cool with that. I trust that next week’s series finale will be great!
